I know that has been a lot of cross-compatibility talk, but I can't seem to find info on this particular issue online.

I would like to use my SRAM s975 Quarq with 10sp red chainrings or with Rotor OCP3 Q rings together with an otherwise DA 11sp group (i.e., DA 9000 shifters, FD, RD, Ultegra 6800 cassette, and Ultegra 6800 chain).

My understanding is that the 11sp chainrings have different ramps and timing, but I think that a bunch of pro teams probably used SRMs with 10sp chainrings and 11sp this past year.

Anyone have practical, hands-on experience with the 10sp Red chainrings plus DA9000 combo and/or the 10sp Rotor OCP3 Q rings plus DA 9000 combo?

9000 with 7900 cranks. Worked fine for me

Can't speak for parts you mention.....but on Campy.....10's crank with 11's shifters not ideal. Left lever clicks designed around distance FD needs to move from top of one ring to another on 11's cranks, which are closer together than 10's. It's reported reverse works OK.

I'm betting you can use a 10's crank with 11's parts, if you're clever with setting up FD, but FD set up may not be ideal.

Only issue is the spacing of 10s rings and 11s front shifting. 'May' produce some chain rub in big or little ring....but the differences are small. Pins and ramps are not an issue.

9000 DA with the rotor round rings hasn't been an issue and shifts as smoothly as I would imagine a DA9000 crank would.

No reason it won't work. The levers have so much throw and so many "trim" spots that you'll be fine.

Two bikes with 11 spd Campy (ergos, RD, chain, cassette) and 10 spd cranks; they work great, even shift quite smoothly on rollers.

BTW, both use 10 spd FD's.

Thanks guys. I will go ahead and make the move to 11sp (minus the crank) after the holidays.
