Shimano Alfine 8 electronic shifting?

Looking to build an internal geared hub for a fat bike. I am looking at the Alfine 8 di-2 with the electronic shifting. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this hub shifter combo, and also am I crazy for putting it on a fat bike? Thanks!

Our shimano outside guy had a commuter with a Di2 Alfine 11s on it. It's just a doohicky that rotates the shift ring on the hub with trons instead of a cable..pretty keen actually. Button, little gear indicator..wires..keen.

The 'weak link', if there is one with these very nice hubs, is the hub..altho pretty easy to service as well.
