Hey,

Wondering if anyone has some experiences/impressions with this saddle? It looks quite different from most of Specialized other saddles and haven't really seen many reviews/talk about it. I'm interested in it since it seems like it could be a pretty comfortable perch but don't have any locally to try.

Anyone have one? Like it? Dislike it?

Sorry, you can't buy anything specialized and participate on this forum......

Specialized products are a good value based on price but rarely last more than 2 years; saddles, shoes, helmets, etc.... I used a few Toupe saddles for a few yrs and something would crack after about a year, every yr. The BG fit concept was good when they introduced it but there are much better quality saddles available now in any shape that works for you.
They look good only on Specialized bikes. Putting a Specialized saddle on any high end or custom bike looks like you "bought it" at a Specialized dealer or cheaped out.
Now factor in their corporate bully tactics in the industry and you should be banned from this forum for even starting this thread...

I disagree. I've had several of their products including crank, saddle, helmets, and shoes (both rode and MTB), all have been great products.

I don't think this bike looks "cheaped out" because of a Specialized saddle.

I got 4 years out of my Toupe.
And when it broke the LBS replaced it.

Tony,
I apologize if I offended you and your bike. I just think there are much better saddle options available at all price points.

Tony,
I apologize if I offended you and your bike. I was thinking more of the new, latest tech bikes seen posted here and elsewhere. Spending $15k+ for custom carbon everywhere and electric everything and then putting a Specialized saddle on...

Discman, we both take no offense :)
I also don't care for this company's business practices, sad they have chosen to go this route. I do however like lots of their products. My wife and I really like their top of the line shoes. We both have their road and MTB shoes.
Will I continue to purchase Specialized products, not sure. I will make a effort to look elsewhere.

Never seen a chicane in person, all the shops that carries spech stuff dont stock that saddle, at some point I thought was a special edition saddle for the pro peloton only.

They offer a full Chicane line. It looks like their answer to the Arione.

New since its first intro.

My last Toupe cracked at 8 mo., but I abhor saddle experimentation.

Did NOT want to start a discussion about Spec, their business policies or product quality "concerns".

I was just curious about this saddle because aside from pro bikes, haven't seen one in person yet it is listed on their website with a full range of rail types/models. I was wondering what people thought of it that had ridden/tried it.

Also, in my opinion it sort of looks like a mix between a Prologo Scratch and an Aliante, width wise definitely Aliante but doesn't seem as "swoopy" nose to tail as it. Again just my guess on it from images

*You* didn't. :)

Politics or not, Specialized has some very useful and unique saddle shapes.

Maybe Fizik will sue them?

I'm very ok with that actually...

Actually the softish forward edges of the Arione, makes for quite a different feel vs its shape.

I have a specialized prevail. Great helmet, fits ME very well. But one thing I have noticed is that everyone that owns one that I know, which is prob at least 50-60 cyclists over a year/year half, have complained including myself about the horrible quality of the front padding in the helmets. I agree. They suck.Rip,tear extremely easily and they do a horrible job of absorbing sweat.
And I own/have owned, kask, Catlike, Giro, bell and many other brands. Great helmet. Horrible padding.

Off Topic...BUT

I noticed the same thing about my Echelon padding, seemed wimpy at best. The stuff in my Bell Gage is noticeably better, better than the Prevail padding I tried on as well.

If we want to talk padding though I have found Kask's to be in another league, best helmet I have ever tried.
