View Full Version : Painted Frame Pumps

Would really like to see what everyone has had custom painted to match their bikes. I personally use a Zefal HPX and think it is one of the best functioning pumps (frame or otherwise) out there. But it is not the prettiest bell at the ball. And it does not look like it would lend to being powdercoated very well either. So let me see what you all have!

Thanks!

I wrap the body of my pumps with contrasting reflective tape. Usually it matches the color scheme of the bike. I think it comes out nice. I've seen Zefals painted to match a frame and generally speaking, they look good. But if you're not planning on sending the pump out with the frame, then consider trying to spray paint it a close match, complementary, or contrasting color. I've done waterbottle cages and spray paint is pretty durable.

This last one is a Zefal with white reflective tape.

My $0.02: About two years ago I made the switch to a Lezyne mini-pump with integral hose in a jersey pocket, and I have looked back. You don't even notice that it's there.

Forgot I also had this silca with matched splatter.

How about that mountain cycles suspended 2" fork with cable actuated hydraulic disc? 1988 for you....

Evidently my driveway crack has gotten wider too. Damn cedar roots 25' away...

Not custom painted, the color just happened to match.

This Silca pump was a match made in heaven without even trying found at the Bike Nook in San Francisco.

Even though it's not painted to match I like the newer Zefal HP as is I use on the Merckx.

Then there is the old standby, original Zefal HP. I keep debating whether to paint it or not. I have some paint the matches well......

I've actually never used the Topeak. Upon receipt I wrapped it up and put it away in a box. I find a mini-pump to stage the tube and CO2 works much better.

When I bought my very red Colorado TG in the early 90's, the LBS asked if I wanted the matching frame pump. He said it was pricey @ $50, but if I saw it, I would definitely want one. He was right.

Maybe not, but the HPX looks great if you sand off the black paint and polish the underlying aluminum.

And it can always be painted to match. :)
