Has anyone ever used long pull road levers like Tektro RL520 or Cane Creek V Drop levers with MTB disc calipers?
I have Avid BB7 MTB and looking to covert a city bike to drop bars.

Is it an effective combo or is it best to go with road specific disc?

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=139332)

My Cannondale cross bike base Shimano 600 levers and works fine with the stock cable pull disks and moved to Shimano road discs just dandy if that helps

some folks will cry about different pull ratios, but I've seen it done before and have a friend running mechanical mtn bike disks on his cross bike with shimano levers.

Our tandem. Stock it had some Shimano 9s STI lever, I switched to Campy 10s (no other changes to the derailleurs/cassette).

Avid mechanical discs.

It's a bit mushy but it's fine.

-Tektro RL520 and CC V drops are indeed long pull levers.

-BB7 mountain is a long pull actuation.

So, these are the appropriate combinations with no crossed actuation ratios.

I have used the RL520 or equivalents for 5+ years with mountain bb7.

Well, the mentioned levers are for 'V' brake type applications and MTB BB7 are 'designed' for V brake type levers. Road BB7 are for lower cable pull, road type levers.

So, get the levers mentioned and bob's yer uncle.
