I bought this set of wheels from the local shop,Hub says Formula . I can't find any info on that. Told the owner I was using an 8 spd cassette and he sold me these takeoffs . I just tried to put the cassette on and no go,slides on until it hits the step . Google leads me to believe it is 10 speed only, something only made for a few years ? Here is a pic of the freehub . My setup is for 8 speed, looks like I am out of luck . Thanks for any help, this one is new to me.I have barely graduated from freewheels to cassettes.

There's a thread about these...maybe on the second page of this forum.

I think Dura Ace 6800 hubs were 10 spd only but the same vintage Ultegra 6700 were good with 8,9,10 speed.

Dura Ace 7800 hubs were 10 speed only...7850 and 7900 went back to 8/9/10 speed compatibility.

the freehub body looks like a FH7800 which will only work with a Dura Ace 10spd cassette. may have been fitted on to the formula hub. sell it on eBay and buy another rear wheel.

Don't forget 7810, also 8/9/10s...confused yet? A example of how a BIG company can change things, rapidly and frequently, w/o regards for those who buy their stuff. BUT it was 'nice' how they realized that their new whizbang 10s stuff wasn't backward compatible...like 7900 wheels/hubs(ooops) and 11s.

Now where did I put my lathe????

A number of my friends had the same issue, it took me almost 10 minutes to pull the cassette body, put it on a lathe, turn down the splines so the non Dura-Ace cassette would fit and put it all back together.

If we all lived by what Shimano says will work, tandems wouldn't exist...
