Just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased the bike in this ad from Bodid.

http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=136280&highlight=585

I've been riding for the better part of forty years and this is the best bike I have ever ridden, it is also my first carbon frame. I've had aluminum and steel; Cannondale, Vitus, Giant and Land Shark. But this bike fits me and feels better, quicker and smoother than any of the others, by a long shot. I know that generally we all think that that a new bike feels better...but now that I've ridden it a number of times I think I can be fairly objective about it. It is quick without being twitchy, very comfortable and I really hate to say this, but it does feel like I have an extra gear on the hills. Perhaps that is just the two pound weight reduction, but I think it is more than that.

My Land Shark weighs an even 17lbs and the 585 comes in at 15.3 with all 10spd DA, DA 7850 wheels and Ultegra 6750 crank. I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping the Land Shark as well, but the 585 is something else again.

It was a pleasure doing business with Bodid, he was helpful and honest and the frame was packed well. Did I mention that I LOVE this bike?

Last month, I bought a new-to-me 585 Ultra in XXL. It's my first ever carbon road bike. Ive finally got all Campy Record 11 bits to get it built this winter. I hope my experience matches yours. Enjoy!

A 585 is pretty much the only bike on my wish list at the moment. And since the holidays are coming up, I should probably add that I ride an L.

I suppose I'd also take a Colnago or a Time. I mean, I'm not that picky. I just want to try lugged carbon.

Good for you, hawker-pal.

I am not surprise that you love the ride, not at all.

Here's wishing you many miles of happy riding...

And as long as we're putting things on our holiday wish lists ;) I'll take one in XL, please. Hohoho.

My 585 is a great ride.
Comfortable, stiff where it needs to be, quick, but not twitchy.
A classic.

Yes, standard British threaded.

No BB30/PFBB30, tapered fork, internal routing, seat mast, integrated little v brakes??

Ya can't ride that!!!

No to all of that above. Straightforward design. Even takes a 27.2 seatpost (unlike the 25.0 of its predecessor, the kg481).

Great bike. I love mine.

I was determined this past summer to find a 585, VXRS, or C40 and I did.

Probably my best climbing bike and only a hair less comfortable/smooth than my Calfee Tetra Pro. It's the kinda bike that you always find yourself two gears lower on than your other rides…very nice indeed.

I realy like the OP's and the tangerine 585. What Time bike and generation most closely aligns with the Look 585?

Glad to hear you are loving yours! I recently built mine up after months of waiting for a hook to open up in the stable...have only taken it around the block once but I was also struck by how smooth the ride is...like riding on glass. Will post pics when I have some good ones to share. ;)

Surprised nobody has grabbed the XL Look 595 in the Classifieds. That's a great bike, too!

Time VXR is pretty similar in appearance.

dude, it sounds like you found your bike soul-mate! I know what you mean...I've ridden quite a few nice bikes over the years...steel, aluminum, ti, carbon and a few scandium bikes over past 40 plus years. I'm still on the hunt for bamboo and wood. I've ridden the look 585 and no doubt its a great carbon bike...very comfortable and good handling...but for me, my fav right now is a ron cooper steel bike.

Long shot but my friend was wondering if anyone have a 585 pro team(white) in a medium for sale?

Thanks guys. Just got a call from my doctor about an MRI I had two days ago. Apparently I have a torn meniscus in my left knee and it needs surgery. The first thing the doc said was..."don't ride your bike!". Sigh.

Fishbike
11-27-2013, 01:05 PM
Oh no! So sorry to hear that. Any sense of the project schedule for surgery, PT and back on the Look? How did you tear it?

Hawker
12-02-2013, 07:54 PM
Not sure? The Doc said once you get older you can tear it any number of ways...doesn't have to be sports related or particularly traumatic. Waiting to hear a surgery date...but most of all missing not being able to ride.

It doesn't really hurt much when I ride but does hurt later in the day. Just don't want to risk making it worse, so looking forward to rainy days...then I don't feel so bad. :)

Yup, you'd be looking for a VXR, VXRS or VXS.

The new Fluiditys even look a bit like the old VXRs.
