View Full Version : Tempe Ironman -- A short report

Hi all. Had a very pleasant time this morning riding the 40 mile round trip to Town Lake in Tempe for the start of the Tempe Ironman. I started riding in the pitch black this morning, but it was worth it. 3,000 competitors doing something that has me in awe. And, it's a perfect triathlon day! A few quick photos plus the obligatory my bike photo. BTW, being among a bike savvy crowd, I received several knowledgeable complements on my allarounder.

That's one heck of an exit ramp out of the water. They really must have been limited in their options to get out.

Neat bridge too (the middle one)

I watched the swim and exit from the water from my office window. They have a great day for it.

You're right! Town Lake is essentially a giant swimming pool. It is built from a dammed section of the Salt River, which has very steep banks and has been seriously worked over by the Army Corp of Engineers.

Yes, I know that building. A good place to view the Ironman!
