K.
I'm extremely reluctant to sell my track/fixed gear bike. But the I need to clean the herd. So help me out here with a fair price to sell this bike?

I'm not looking to sell it quickly, just trying to get an idea of the market value of it. Here are the stats

http://www.euroasiaimports.com/productcart/pc/EAI-Toyo-Godzilla-Frameset-403p8118.htm

52mm Track Geometry.
Made by Mr.Yoshiaki ,Toyo, in Japan.

This Frame is made from Kaisei 022 tubing (just like Ishiwata 022), and is super light for a steel frame. It is Keirin Orange. It is a very Deep Orange. Difficult to capture in a picture, but it a awesome paint job. Has very slight sparkles in the deep orange yet still kinda creamy.

This bike is loaded with every High-End track park you can think of. This is an Actual Track Geometry Bike. With Actual Track Parts. Made to be ridden on a Veladrome BUT can be ridden on the road, as it has been most of its life.

*Sugino crank/chainring bolt set (5 pin) - Gold (NJS)
*FSA CarbonFiber Track Crankset. 165mm
*KCNC Scandium, Ceramic Bottom Bracket
*Izumi Model 'V' gold track racing chain (NJS)
*Euro-Asia Imports Gold Medal Pro track cog 17T
*Mavic Rear Ellipse Rear Wheel
*Phil Wood Custom Drilled 20 Spoke, laced to DT-swiss shallow hub

*KCNC Scandium Seatpost
*Fizik antares saddle
*Pink Chris King 1" headset
*Zipp Carbon Fiber Stem 120mm
*East Nano Tubes/Carbon Fiber DeltaForce Handlebar

Frame has been very taken care of. With Very little markings on it. But there are a few. Nothing crazy though. I have the original Fork, Uncut as well.

Bikes Total weight is 15.95 Pounds. Which is crazy light and unheard of For a Steel Track bike.
Let me know what you thunk. Thanks!

I think:

1) I think there is much weirdness going on there!
2) You'll need to part it out to maximize your return, because the number of people who want an orange bike with a red headset can be counted on one hand with five fingers left over.
3) Why do you have a top tube protector when your bars are above the tube?

Oh, and put the original fork back on. 'cause Wound-Up, like a beard on a lady, eh.

please see the classifieds rules.

we dont ask each other to "bid" on stuff here, the classifieds was intended to pass on good deals to other members.

put a price on this, or, like a chariot at midnight, it will turn into a pumpkin.

I'll take the Kashimax frame protector if you part it out.

OK, moved to general discussion, since it's not for sale.

as for what it's worth, i agree with Christian, this bike has way too much going on to qualify for a cohesive build.

issues that i see:

-if someone GAVE me, or paid me to take an FSA carbon crank, i wouldnt. too many issues with them failing.

-mixed match wheel set - drags appeal way down

-pink and orange?

-ridiculous mix of hipster like street fixie and actual track bike. track geometry sucks for JRA, and real trackies are not going to ride the bike set-up the way it sits now, so who exactly does this appeal to?

now, parting it out on the other hand is a good idea, because each of those parts, in their own right are pretty nice.

just one man's opinions though!

1/2 of whatever retail is.

I think the pink HS looks fine for such a bike.

+1,,, was tihnking the same 3 things, some times is better sell the whole thing, in this case I have to agree, you will get more selling in parts.

Probably the kid had a regular handlebar before and thats why of the frame protector.

Nothing wrong with a little facial hair, lol! Wound Ups are sexy everywhere even on steel bikes!

Seriously though, best option to take is a part-out since this bike won't appeal to a steel-NJS-purist, nor a modern-carbon-whore...

But if not, my best guesstimates:

Frameset (even with Wound Up): $500-700
Rear Ellipse: $200-250
Front Phil/OP: $150-200
Wheelset: $350-450 (it should be broken up as a set)
Cranks: $150-200
Everything else: 1/2 retail costs

Toyo Godzilla frameset.
I remember buying a blue I used to own a few years back for 350, was barely able to sell it for 450 with ck headset and Thomson post/stem and nitto b123's.
And I live in LA! Haha and it was in great condition.
But yeah, I would consider somewhere around there for the frameset, depending on what's included.

Cool.

I was thinking about parting out, which would make the most finacial sense.

I think I'll look at 800-950 for it as a whole. Which I think sounds about a fair price. And I'll see what I can get for it if I part it out.

Oh. The pink headset I won in a women's breast cancer CRIT in Dallas a few years back. I placed 2nd maybe 3rd? I think I broke even that day.

The Godzilla is good track geometry but its market is almost entirely for street fixie riders. You definitely want to reinstall the original fork and either sell the WoundUp separately or throw it into the deal. Those frames are selling for about what Bareknuckles are selling for -- about $300-350 for the frame/fork/headset. They don't have the oversized tubing of the Bareknuckle so they don't have the same stiffness, but have the same ugly (and heavy) fork and same welding (just some shims to emulate lugs).

As mentioned above, the FSA crankset is simply a liability. You can probably get $55-60 for the Zen chainring, $50 for the cog, $30 or so for the Kashimax top tube protector. The seat post isn't worth much, the saddle perhaps $35-40, the stem is up for grabs -- nice but not popular and someone needs that length -- and the bars are a slightly dated model for those who really use aero bars. The wheels are a mess -- the Mavic rear isn't standard track chain alignment and the front is an old recycled wheel with limited appeal. Together I think you'd be lucky to get about $550-650 for it all, just because any buyer is likely to dump a lot of what's on here. You should get that for the individual components, but most belong on Craigslist rather than eBay or forums like this. That's where your audience for the wheels, etc. will be, plus after adding shipping a lot of the parts get too expensive.

I'd take the frame/fork/headset (original Toyo fork) and the chainring and cog at those prices with shipping included. I'd want to see a professional shop remove the bottom bracket and reinstall the fork crown race on the Toyo fork. Hope that makes sense. I buy all the time for new riders in our development program at my track and after they're done, sell their bikes to new riders or to those looking for fixies.

Thanks for all your help guys/gals.

I appreciate the candid help and all. I just wanted to complete the post. I found a buyer for it in about 4mins after posting it on ebay, got a local buyer, so we went face to face and sold it for $900 complete.

It's crazy. I posted it on ebay and within 4 mins I had an email with a phone number. Came to a agreement on price and it was sold for 900.

I'm happy with that number and the outcome. Happy it stayed whole and local.

Thanks again!

well, that's the best outcome, then. Nice work
