Yahoo is 2+ years late on this discovery.

Just yesterday a buddy of mine at work asked if I had heard about it.

They must have just hired a new PR firm, or their marketing group needed some more press to support a fundraising effort.

^^ And they start the article with "You know what sucks about riding a bike, other than all the pedaling..."

Somehow, this gadget has really captured the imagination of non-cyclists.

Amazing how many friends/family have forwarded this link to me . . .

Can you guys keep the noise down? I'm inventing inflatable skis for giant slalom. I don't know much about skiing, but I think Yahoo will think they are awesome.

I don't understand why this is a big deal. I commuted today wearing an invisible bike helmet.

don't bend over to adjust your shoes or pick up a coin, it'll be costly.

Same - I've had numerous people who don't ride, but know that I do send this to me/tag me in it on facebook, etc.

My take is that A) I don't need to be worrying about a mechanical device that could fail, or run out of batteries protecting me head, and B) I don't really mind wearing a helmet. Lastly, $500. Enough said. For the commuter types they're targeting that won't want to "mess up their hair" this is probably more than they'd ever consider spending on a bike, let alone a helmet.

did someone say $500? if i want to pay that kind of scratch for invisible helmets, i'll wait for the Rapha version at least.

I saw this a few days ago but had no idea how much it cost. I don't know how they expect to make any money. most people who spend a lot on bike crap like their superman kits so they'd never spend a dime on it. I'd honestly try it, for like 30 bucks.

For 30 bux id definitely not try it tbh. Not that i would for another price but 30 for that tech.. ehm no thanks.

just meant that was the most i'd pay for a helmet, not getting into what that price would theoretically mean for the product. I still wear this: http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Bike-Helmet-White-X-Large/dp/B002LVMOTQ/ref=sr_1_11?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1384464022&sr=1-11&keywords=bell+helmet

I don't think a regular helmet would hurt the looks of these chick inventors too much?

I'd buy it and wear it at the drop of a helmet, especially in the summer. I always dreamed of riding around with a heavy scarf that contains a single use $500 airbag tied to my neck. I'm ordering one yesterday. Who's the La la land distributor?
