and from Lars

Lars van der Haar was one of the three big names sporting disc brakes in Hamme-Zogge. Last weekend Niels Albert began testing a disc bike; this week the pair were joined by Sven Nys. “I switched one lap with the normal brakes and one lap with discs to feel the difference,” he said. “It is a difference. Now I can stop, otherwise I can only slow down a little bit. Now it’s [a matter of] working on the weight of the bike. That’s the biggest problem. It’s one kilo and I feel it when I take my bike on the shoulder.”

Euro Cross, like Euro road racing, is really the pinnacle, IMHO. Some of the videos, the racing, is just amazing.....and the crowds......

great race, i watched it last night. caught Nys yelling at Vantornout with 2 to go when Klaas didn't quite make it up that little riser. did not see what caused Vantornout to have to run later, but his rear wheel was definitely broken - i've read that he went down and Nys rode over it.
Sven will probably have to come around when Trek takes over in January, I can't really see them making a non-disc version of whatever carbon Crockett they'll put under him and Compton, but who knows. Lars VdH seems to be very comfortable on the Shimano hydro Di2, winning the first two World Cup races on them full-time.
