A little off-topic, but it seems to be a slow day. A quick and hopefully fun question that will help others understand you better (this might not be a good thing :D ), but what cds, tapes, 8-tracks (for those who are really unlucky) or MP3s do you have rockin' now?

I'll start:
Latest Depeche Mode, Best of Live, Crystal Method and U2-Achtung Baby

Jimmy D. Lane - It's Time. Jimmy is the son of legendary blues guitarist Jimmy Rodgers. On this album he is backed my Double Trouble which was Stevie Ray Vaughan's band (Tommy Shannon & Chris Layton). Cool album shows the influences that Jimi Hendrix and SRV had on Jimmy D.

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha
I will drive past your house
And if the lights are all down
I'll see who's around

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'll getcha, I'll getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha

And if the lights are all out
I'll follow your bus downtown
See who's hanging out

One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna give you the slip, a slip of the lip or another
I'm gonna lose ya, I'm gonna trick ya
One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna trick ya trick ya trick ya trick ya
One way or another I'm gonna lose ya
I'm gonna give you the slip

I'll walk down the mall
Stand over by the wall
Where I can see it all
Find out who ya call
Lead you to the supermarket checkout
Some specials and rat food, get lost in the crowd

One way or another I'm gonna getcha, I'll getcha, I'll getcha getcha getcha getcha
(Where I can see it all, find out who ya call)
One way or another I'm gonna getcha, I'll getcha, I'll getcha getcha getcha getcha

I was listening toTommy Bolin Post Taostee the other night; "Don't let your mind go post toastee, like a lot of my friends did"
Next to Queens' "Tie Your Mother Down" Post Toastee is one of the greatest rock songs ever!

The new Rheostatics CD... Has a song; track three, about the Tarleks from Cincinnati-o... Great Band from the great white north!!!
Been listening to the new Rheostatics a bunch; plus a few of their earlier releases.

When I am not on the road, I work around the shop and listen to tunes all day. (So do the neighnors, he he J/k) So I get too listen to a lot of music. A small sample below.

AudioAdrenalin I have all of their CD out in the shop and they get regular rotation.

King's X

Bob Wills Box set, basically a greatest hits.

Other than that just a bunch of compositional tapes

Tom Petty
Thin Lizzy
Rush
VH
LedZepplin
Sister Machine Gun
The Cult

Grand Funk "Walk like a man, and talk like a man.
Walk like a man, hey baby, you can call me your man.

A little girl asked me what am I gonna’ do,
When I get old and blue and worn clear through?
And I say by that time I ought to be in my prime,
I’m gonna’ strut like a cock until I’m ninety-nine."

Chicago
City Boy

Plus a handful of Compositional CDs with very eclectic mix of music styles.

In our new issue of Matrika Yoga (it's out...look here if you are interested in our new journal: www.matrikayoga.com) we have a piece that compares a work of 19th century art to Neon Park's famous cover of Little Feat's Sailin' Shoes. Since Lowell George died, well, nuthin's been the same. Now I'm nearly all-Mozart all-the-time. But I will get to meet Bill Paine, Feat's keyboardist, in the coming months as we follow up on the connection. Whoda'thunk yoga was about Sailin' Shoes? All sorts of stuff, maybe even bicycles. We'll see.

funny you mentioned it. I just played Jeff Beck Truth the other day. It's been a while.

Congrats on the new journal. The website is a fine piece of work. I'm sure that your article exhibits your typically nuanced, always generous style of expression.

A Neon Park reference! Wonderful. Of course, Park himself was aware of the degree to which his cover art "sampled" previous works:

"The *Sailin' Shoes* cover was inspired by Louis XIV," says Park, who has painted all of Little Feat's subsequent album covers. "I'd just seen Rossellini's film about Louis XIV. And it seemed to relate a lot to Hollywood. A situation ruled by someone who kept everybody under his thumb by keeping them in hock from buying fancy clothes seemed to relate to Hollywood somehow."

"Look closely at the cover and you'll notice Mick Jagger dressed as Gainsborough's Blue Boy (Park was inspired by the film *Performance*); on the back, the artist Bruegel - wearing one of his trademark upside-down funnels - peeks from behind a pillar." http://members.aol.com/tedalvy/neon.htm

And...

Moving back in time to discuss art of a finer nature, Thomas Gainsborough’s “Blue Boy”painted in 1770 quite naturally (as with familiarity and knowledge one simply can’t think of one without thinking of the other) leads to thinking of his other famous work, “Pinky” (actually a portrait of Lady Howe standing in flowing pink dress), which because of that basic elegance could not be easily utilised by artist Neon Park. Rather, a theme from another work was set in its place, Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s “Girl on a Swing”. http://flaskaland.blogspot.com/2003_03_01_flaskaland_archive.html

Started the day with Sun Kil Moon, "Ghosts of the Great Highway"--sometimes it's best to start with something you know is great. Especially in the midst of a month-long rainstorm.

Now I'm on to R.E.M. "New Adventures in Hi-Fi"... may shift gears to Galaxie 500 after this.

Cheers to the Steely Dan listeners. I worked with an accountant a few years ago who owned the whole Citizen Steely Dan boxed set, and lo and behold it's all in my music library now.
