quick campy 8/9 compatibility quetion

I think I know the answer to this, but would like to confirm. Will an older (pre-2001) 9-speed rear derailleur work with an 8-speed drive train? I recall that it should work, but was also wondering if it needs different pulleys or other modifications.

Yep, very well as do 10s rear ders, including today's ....with no modification necessary.
