(I'm posting this in the General Section so this gets more eyeballs. Mods, feel free to combine threads or whatnot. Just want to get word out.)

Chris Igleheart was struck by a car whilst riding about in Portland and spent some time in the hospital and is struggling to pay his med bills.

WolfsMouth is putting out notice that the Portland Rapha is putting on a benefit for Chris to raise $. For more info, look for his thread in Events area.

And as WolfsMouth mentions, if you can't make it, you can still help out by going to this site (http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/i-heart-igle/101947).

As mentioned in WolfsMouth's thread, Chris is one of the nicest, more gracious peeps @ met at NAHBS so would love to help him get one his feet again.

The guy makes beautiful bikes, but this: "Humble and a humanist at heart, Chris didn't want to trouble the person who hit him and let him go without asking for any information," is just not smart. Troubling them or not, you need THEIR insurance to pay for this (unless of course you're at fault).

Hopefully he can get back on his feet.

Donated..

There should never need to be donations needed to get people healed and back on their feet

They're getting closer to the goal of $15K and are currently at $11,966 http://forums.thepaceline.net/images/icons/icon14.gif

Chris always had a smile and a good word to say when we worked together at Fat City, and we'd chat at the food truck when I moved next door to Merlin. I hadn't seen him in a decade or more when he appeared at the Denver NAHBS. He hadn't changed a bit, and though he was between building gigs, he was upbeat and remained the same good guy I remembered. Sorry to hear of his accident, but I know he'll come through this well, especially with the support of so many. Thanks for the post! :beer:

That's too bad. Good reminder that if you're self-employed it makes sense to buy a disability policy.

Just wanted to post an update and a congrats.

Looks like the goal was met! Yay. Cyclists are a great community. Looks like Kevin will keep site up until 11/23 if anyone missed out that still wants to contribute.

Nice job everyone :banana::banana:

Donated, and now motivated to get my own Igleheart steed back to ridable shape. Thankfully, all it needs is a new derailleur hanger from Paragon! (maybe a new RD too)
