View Full Version : leather saddle with longer rails
i've tried VO and selle anatomica and they were not quite satisfactory for me.
any other suggestions?
currently very happy with B-17's on all of my other bikes so looking for something similar.
super setback seat post is not a feasible option on my mtn bike.
thinking maybe rivet, and wondering about berthoud.

The Selle Anatomica has really long rails, if that isn't enough, even with a modest setback post like A VO or Thomson...then your bike might be too small, IMHO.

I think the issue is that the OP isn't happy with the VO or Selle Anatomica saddles themselves so he/she is looking for other options with similar rail lengths, not necessarily longer rails. My VO, admittedly not a model they sell anymore, developed an uncureable sag after not very many miles so if I were in the market for a leather saddle I would definitely be looking at other brands as well.

The Rivet saddles look really nice. The leather is very thick, much thicker than Brooks for example.

5,000km on my Berthoud Aspin saddle this year and couldn't be happier. Just gets better the more I ride it. At 500g it's not the lightest thing out there, but man is it well built. The Aravis has Ti rails, is 75g lighter, but also $80 more.

The best Brooks shape for me is B17, and I found the shape of Berthoud Aravis tolerable. Not as soft as the B17, but contour is pretty similar.

The B17 Ti version has longer rails .... not much ... but there is room for adjustment.
But price ? 350 frns
VO leather developed funny cracks and the selle anatomicas would rub against my inner thighs. The rails were definitely long enough. Sure would be nice if brooks would lengthen their rails!
