Help! I've seen differing recommendations regarding the use of the plastic dust cover. On the outboard side vs the inboard side or not at all. The OEM bearings have one sealed (red) side and should that be oriented inboard or outboard? Thanks' Donald

Should be outboard, since the cups(Use Record cups, NOT SuperRecord) have a 'seal' in the cup. But the best solution is to find bearings with seals on both sides. When installing, knife blade one seal off, grease in there, seal back on..in any case, grease in bearings, lotsa grease, even ceramics.

so the sealed side goes inboard and the dust cover outboard?? or is this backwards given the seal in the cup???

Seal on the bearing outboard, toward the crank arms.
