Long story short--I've moved on in life.
I retired from nearly two decades of rural
Medical practice to take on some new challenges
In a new direction. My dobegirl died recently
From ingesting a linear foreign body that quickly took her
To the point of no return. I then rescued this new trail pal
Named Truman...found a Monstercross firefly here
And couldn't be happier with the fit in every aspect
Of this new chapter in life as an empty nester.
With death...new life begins...
And the FF?? Absolutely phenomenal. I've tried every bike
I own out at Stone park in ideal conditions in recent months
and today in the sloppiest conditions the
firefly outperformed them all. WOW! Thanks jah--you're the best!

Love the bike but it is the second best thing in your photo. Enjoy both!

This is my fourth week with Truman. He is four
And his name before rescue was doozie! He scaled
A 10 foot chain link fence...dug his way out
Of a privacy fenced yard and was in various foster care
for over 6 months. The FF had a little easier go of it
But I hope both have found a forever home...
I don't have a garage...just the outdoors and a downtown loft
During the week. Hopefully this arrangement will be conducive
To some great winter riding! I'll keep you posted...

That bike really looks the business. So is that an internally geared hub on there?

Nice looking dog to btw. I do recall following some of your previous posts with pics. Sorry to hear of the passing of your last dog. I thought I recalled you posting pics of one of those funky fat tired bikes with the wide wheels and riding on a frozen lake with another rescue dog last winter? Is this the same dog that recently passed? I guess I am confused...well your pics have me making the effort to log in as they are a treat! Good luck!

last year on Christmas eve day, my wife and i rescued Katy,
a red dobegirl from our local shelter...my first time being owned by a dobe...
she did more to rescue me i think. we had her for 9 months before she died
unexpectedly. She apparently unraveled and ingested the mat she was laying on when she was being boarded. i picked her up at 5pm and she was gone at 2:30 am...nothing to do but let her go.
...ironic since she fell through the ice at passover...i went in after her
and pulled her out in 20 feet of water...nothing i wouldn't do for that dog...
she was the best friend i've ever had. Truman looks like her a bit being
the same breed but they couldn't be more different.
Good to be finding out the great things about my new trail partner, too.

And yes...the internal 8 speed hub was a dream in the mud!

Oh that is terrible to hear I am sorry to say. Good for you to carry on and not give up. I am always amazed at the madness we live with emotions regarding pets. It's just awesome when we say he or she will never be replaced but when we do make that decision to allow another one into our life while not replacing the other the bond that grows is just as strong so as to fill the void of sorrow for those left behind.
