Wheelset shipping

Has anyone here shipped a wheelset recently and can tell me the actual cost and size of box to fit a 29er? TIA!

$70 minimum, the issue is the size of the box, not the weight. That was USPS, I assume more for FedEx or UPS.

I ship wheels in 25x25x6 boxes and they're under $20ea UPS; sometimes as little as $12 ea depending how far they're shipping.

With USPS, it's cheaper to send them together as one box (e.g. 25x25x12, two 6" boxes taped together.)

With UPS, it's cheaper as two boxes.

No way either method is $70 in my experience.

Just shipped a pair of road wheels from Arizona to Florida in a single box. Cost using Fed-Ex ground was around $12 using my companies Fed-Ex account. If you know someone with a Fed-Ex account the discount can be substantial.

Cost about $40.00 plus insurance

Retail or company discount? If you have access to a commercial account your cost will be considerably less than published prices.

Full disclosure: I am a long retired UPS driver, and shipped my stuff through my largest account. Their discount was crazy, like 1/3 of my cost.

shipbikes dot com has a wheel shipper box. I had a bike box from them once and it was pretty decent for the price.

You need to put that in the right box or you will get charged oversize (usps)

I just shipped a set to PR for a little under $60 using USPS Express in a 27 x 27 x 13 inch box. That was the online price. Saved nearly $30 going online.

Just shipped a 29er wheelset yesterday.

$32 FedEx Ground w/ $500 insurance, just picked up a wheel box from a LBS.

Apparently, I went the wrong way with shipping. My price was for a wheelset in a single box, but maybe that didn't matter.
