I don't mean Alyssa Milano (drum roll).

I really don't make a special effort to target red/yellow frames, indeed I'm not especially fond of the combo, but I seem to be cursed with finding them. The seller was a bit addled about the details on this one - some of what he remembered would be impossible absent a time machine. He seems to recall buying it the year after Ultegra 6500 was released, but thought it was a 90'. I think 98-99, but would love to hear from the Serotta cognizant.

Serial is TI 53 2308

Aaron,

Take a look at the catalogs on the site here. Given the drop-outs, 1" steerer, and "Legend Ti" name on the top tube, I would guess a 2000/2001. The 98/99s just had "Ti" on the top tube.

You do have a lot of red and yellow bikes, don't you? :)

Ha- I do! You could be right - looks like an 01' to me. I'm hoping other legend owners can narrow it down further by serial number.

I take a wild guess ...

2002 - 2004

Im certainly no expert on serottas. But i thought many brands switched to 11/8 forks around 2002 so it seems weird (to me at least) that serottas were still doing quill stems at the same time. I would guess pre 2000 but thats just that, an uneducated guess.

I'd guess that's a MY2000.

2001 had moved to the enlarged hole 3DXL dropouts and threadless steerer.

I think 2000 now too - it has the brass bosses described in he 00' catalog.

I used to have Madonna's phone number, but she changed it when she found out.

Sorry.

based on the posts below and the threaded headset primarily, as well as the other decals and drops, it look like the legend I have one (inch fork crown and F1 fork):bike:

BBDThe thread title makes me think of the old Blackglama ads...

Serotta built what the customer asked for. if they wanted threaded, then threaded it was for several years after the industry went threadless.

This image is so large that it's hurting the thread and making it hard to read...would you mind removing?

I'm hoping someone here has one with a similar serial number.

Thanks Happycamper!

Could someone with a Legend Ti close to serial # TI 53 2308 help me out with an exact date? I do think it's 00' - 01'.

I have TI 56 2739 that is a 2001...

One thing I notice is that logo on your your brake bridge isnt in a contrasting color. Mine is painted white. Might not be anything but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I'll take 2000 for $200, Alex.

The answer is: Certainly not a Legend.

The correct response: Who is Alyssa Milano?

:p

Thanks gang! I think 2000 is looking increasingly likely (and ten years off of the seller's memory...he must have had some fun nights).

I guess our legends depend on age elefantino ;)

but I think it is a 98 or 99, definitely 2000 at the newest. 3D dropouts came out on Ti Serottas before steel ones. My CSI is a 2001 and has 3D dropouts, and they started to appear on some steel Serottas in 2000. The 3D dropouts on steel Serottas always had the bigger holes, and the Ti 3D dropouts went to the larger holes around the same time they were introduced on steel Serottas.

What's remarkable is that a 13-year old Legend is more advanced than most titanium bikes produced today.

I have a Legend Ti what I believe is a '97 or '98 (sn is in the low 700's) and it has a filled in logo there...
