So what's your favorite seatpost collar/clamp? Salsa, Thomson, etc.

Anybody have any issues with Thomsons stripping?

Chris King also makes a nice one.

I bought a Hope of Ebay for $4 and some change. It's my favorite in 28.6 but Salsa's clamp are almost as nice for less money. I do not care for the thomson seatpost clamp I have. It is too overbuilt and bulky in my view.

I have never seen a Chris king seatpost collar and my relatively quick google search returned nothing. Do you have a pic of it?

Does Salsa make the 28.6 in any other color but black? Need a red collar for my steel hardtail.

I'm sticking with seat collars made by Loaded Precision.
Lots of colors..

It's like a piece of bike jewelery. Lightweight and elegant @ 10 gms.

Nope and they shouldn't given the bolt and barrel design. If something happened, I have extras of the bolt and barrel kits. Let me know. But they put a 10 degree hole in the clamp to avoid the pressure and stress on the bolt, clamp and tube. Very nice well thought out design. Like all their products.

I'm another fan of the Salsa Lip Lock. I have one on my ATB and one on my road bike. The "free to pivot-bolt" is a sound idea.

While it doesn't come in 28.6/red, I see no reason you couldn't spray paint it any color you wanted. I did just that with 2 plastic and 2 aluminum waterbottle cages with excellent results.

I was surprised too. Never heard of a CK seat clamp before. Confirm please?

Campy is terrific design, spreads load evenly and on a lot of surface area.

When or if I ever have an issue of seatpost slippage, I put a campy on there and no more problems.

For something unique and assuming no slippage issues, Soul Kozak gets my vote. I've got 'em on a couple bikes. Fairwheel Bikes has 'em now.

Campagnolo asymmetric is the best. Elegant, simple solid.

And I've got one for sale in the classifieds section. Sealed brand new in bag.

Oops, my bad. Sorry. It's a Phil Wood, not CK. Photo above reminded me (don't have it in front of me). It's interesting, though, that the tapped hole doesn't go all the way through. Anyone know what advantage that would have?

Reduces the chance of over tightening and crushing the tubing. Can't over tighten if the bolt is bottomed out.

I've used DKG, and really like them. They're in Marin County, so local to me. I think their only colors are silver and black.

I have a 28.6 in Salsa flip lock (silver) if anyone wants it (fits very skinny seat tubes). I have a blue flip lock and like it a lot; worked very well on a bike with a seat tube that was reamed out a touch too much.

Salsa Lip Lock. The stainless barrel nut / bolt design, craftsmenship, color choices, and size selection is where it's at. That design really works and never annoys with a bent bolt from overtorquing (yeah, I know, shouldn't have to overtorque).

I also liked the thin engraved stainless Litespeed piece that was offered on their early 2000 framesets. It was beautiful, light, more flexible that aluminum, an held fast.

Damn. :) really though. Campy makes a damn good clamp. KCNC makes a great post too for the price, and it's light: wish it was asymmetric.

It's hard to beat Campy's collar though.

Doesn't look like Salsa does. However, Hope (http://www.hopetech.com/page.aspx?itemid=SPG317&tab=specification)does make a 28.6 in red. I have one, in another size, which I've been happy with.

Thanks for the info. I've seen the Hope collars in red, very nice.
