Are there any other vegans or vegetarians on this forum. Mainly just curious about their individual diet success for training/racing.

Not sure if she frequents this site but molly cameron is: http://www.mollycameron.com/. Cruise into Veloshop and ask. Whatever the diet/regimine, its working hard.

PDX,

I'm a vegetarian, but hardly a racer, so I don't know how useful my experiences would be. I used to take some protein supplements but the whey protein started to give me gout problems (a sure sign that I’m getting old !!!) so I cut way back on that.

IMO it’s really not an issue for anyone who rides “normal” amounts of time, whatever that might be.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I only eat meat about 1-2 times/month. I've been this way for about 7 years, due to my vegetarian girlfriend. It hasn't affected me as far as I can tell. I eat a lot of cereal/bread, greens, yogurt, beans, nuts and dried fruit. My daily diet is what most people eat on a backpacking trip. Works for me. As far as training, during a hunger attack post-ride, I go for cereal with milk, toast and jam, and then beer. I ride 100-200 miles/week, but some of those miles are gas-propelled. ;)
