Seems like a solid idea, but I imagine making it work in the real world would be tricky. Besides, most people that are likely to buy one already have lights that would overpower it, and people running dim lights aren't likely to buy one.

Anyone here ride slow enough to make ~10 ft of lead time work for them?

Yeah, even if it did work that's a deal breaker. It's cool for a Tron effect though.

You can get better results mounting the the head light lower,
move it from the handle bar to half way down the fork.
You'll see the state of the road much better, potholes and
lumpy pavement cast shadows.

Pre 1960 British bikes have a lamp mount half way down the fork
for this reason, it works well even with a modern light mounted.

Better solution: 650B x 38mm tires.


I wonder how many people would avoid potholes in order to crash into a curb, car, person, cyclist, etc.
