Hi guys, anybody have anything to say about the Look KG 361??

Good? bad?? springy? (what ever that means)... reliable?

Thanks.

I used to sell them. Hold out for the 381 or the 481. Those were amazing. The 361 was ok... a little dead feeling. Not "tuned"... It was their budget carbon frame with all round tubes.

The 481/381 felt like steel bikes, but with carbon. Basically springy, lively (flexy) but with the vibration damping of carbon. On the other extreme the KX/KX Light was the stiff sprinter's bike. Too stiff for my taste.

Another vote for the 381/481. I have one of each (the 481 is the SL version) and consider them great, under-rated carbon bikes.

since I saw all those looks and times being posted I got hot for one, thats why I was asking for the 361, never had a french bike and to be sincere I never look at them because they are like expensive.

So 481/381 then?

I had a 361. Rode great, but flexy. I second the hold out for a newer model.

Thanks, another question... what size of frame do you guys had?? asking because the flex a larger frame has is different than a smaller frame.

Thanks.

I have a 481sl...had it up for sale as you know. Then I realized I was nuts...so it's staying put. I'm on a 60 and don't think the frameset is noticeably flexy, even when powering out of saddle.

Well, was asking about the 361... cant afford the 461 :D

The other thing is that some find the 361 plenty stiff and really smooth and some used the word springy... Have a carrera in carbon and that thing doesn't flex at all, so no idea how flexy the 361 is, the other thing is that I need something to work on during the winter :D unless I find a BMC phonak for the right price :D

My 56 cm 481SL is not as stiff as my Parlee, but enough for me... super all-day ride quality.

And... a good reason not to post from memory, without looking first (whoops, bad pun there...). My other Look is indeed a KG 361, not the 381. It's currently my winter/snow/slush bike. I think it rides very much like a good steelie. Sure, not as lithe and responsive as the 481SL, but a damn good frameset. Never thought of my 56 cm as flexy, not at all.

I had to search the archives to find my own old posts re:which Look bike did I have. It was a 381 and I really liked it. I ride 60ish cm frames so it was a big one too. Plenty stiff but not harsh. I sold it because my ti Strada Bianca was a bit better for me and more versatile allowing tires to 700x35 (maybe more?)

My 381 was so goodI remember wondering how much better a newer carbon race bike could be. I wasn't too fond of the carbon seat post system.

Funny. I found my 59cm 481 to be quite stiff. With the low trail (52mm or so) plus short front center, that sucker was quick handling. A sports car ride if ever there was one.

Have 585 now and it's a whole lot smoother. But the 481 was unique.

Hated the combo of funky seatpost clamp and carbon seatpost, though. The expander clamp wore right through the Look seatpost. Subbing in a 25.0mm alloy Dura Ace post made a world of difference.

My 361 was a medium. 54.5 top tube if I remember correctly
