My Legend Ti was originally set up with all DA 7800. I went to the 7900 shifters as the hoods felt better to my hands. Installed 7900 FD and chain as well. Works great. I would now like to switch 7800 cranks and use the 9000 52-36.
Can I do this and still run my 7800 RD and 7800 10 speed cassette? Will the 7900 shifters and FD continue to be compatible as well? Hope someone else has done something similar and has had a good experience to share. Thanks!

Yes. Putting a 11s crank on a othwerwise 10s system is no problem. The opposite is not true for 'positional' FD/LH shifters tho. BUT it 'may' be cheaper to get a 7800/6600/R700 or so compact crank, and get a set of TA 52/36 rings...

So, I can keep the 7900 FD and install 9000 crank and BB and shifting should be ok? Thanks for your insight!

I'm glad I'm not the only non Campy guy experimenting with the 11sp crankset-10 speed drivetrain combo

All right then, can I use a 7800 rear derailleur with 9000 shifters without a jtek type adapter? ( I've got several extras, and think they're prettier). What about a 7800 front derailleur. Thanks for humoring my questions...

I am currently running a 10spd crankset with an 11spd drivetrain with no issues at all. As far as cranks go, you can go either way.

11spd crank on 10spd drivtrain or 11 spd crank on 10 spd drivtrain.

Nope, not sure you can use the jtek thingy anyway with a 9000 or 6800 RD.

Cannot use anything but a 9000 or 6800 front der with 9000 shifters. AND if you want optimum feel and shifting, gotta use shimano new whizbang slick cables as well...$15 per, yowser.
