Very nice. Here is one of my toys, the Feinwerbau 65 Mk2. I also have the Mk 1, but had to get a Mk 2 when Don Nygord won the '81 world championship. Don't shoot these much now but they are very nice airguns. Have several rifles too but not the match grade samples like you have. Beautiful guns by the way.

Thanks! Both rifles are stock. I know people work these over, however, I can't find anything to improve. Lock them in a vice and they shoot one hole groups all day. Now standing and shooting is another thing and greatly subject to operator error.;)

Very nice. Those older spring powered target pistols are massive pieces of industrial art.

Lovely!

If anyone has a line on a beat up FWB 300 or equivalent, let me know. There's this mtb/airgun biathlon....

Fun hobby. I shoot 16 yard trap, but my buddy has air rifles and we enjoy competitions in shooting quarters, and dimes etc.

I've been thinking of doing more with air rifles/pistols due to costs going bonkers for just about any other discipline. I shot international skeet as well as sporting clays for several years but it got to the point that I was thinking about how much money I was sending down the tube whenever I would take the field. Like all the shooting sports the only way to maintain is through consistent good practice and I wasn't doing that.

Great thread. Not to take it sideways too much: What caliber is used in the Olympic Biathlon?

Are these biathlon airguns? Where does one get something like these? No, they're 10 meter rifles. 10 meter is the common Olympic/ISSF competition for air rifles.

You can order them from most any gun store, or air gun suppliers on the web. Steyr, Walther, Feinwerkbau all make excellent 10m rifles. Expect to pay ~ $500 for a good used one.

Yes, biathlon is something I've thought about a lot. A friend coached the US national team a long time back, but I never was able to get on the range with him to ski with a rifle or shoot after hauling it over hill and dale.

The rifles themselves are really amazing in their customization.

.22 rimfire. I have a Russian Biathlon rifle I'll post sometime.

The thing about biathlon is that you need to be, first and foremost, an accomplished cross country skier and, secondly, a shooter.

Actually a pretty harmless addiction. If there is enough interest, I'll post my SSP's. If you like shooting, this is the way to go.

Since I had no experience shooting a rifle prior to my biathlon foray, I would argue the opposite. I was a good regional xc racer and only started shooting 4 weeks prior to my race held at a CFB in southern Quebec. All my practice (limited) was indoors but well, it's different out in the cold.

My skiing time was good enough for a podium but man, those penalties add up...........and my placing drop to mid pack.

Since this is an OT thread, post away. Would love to see your equipment. I may be starting the slide toward another expensive preoccupation:)

And for the cycling version of biathlon....

I have an Anschutz CIL 190 - nice little target rifle (22LR). I also use spring airguns for indoors/cottage plinking. It's a great sport and very relaxing.

Reviving this thread after airguns came up in the other current hot topic thread ;).

Airgunners of The Paceline Forums, what are you shooting? PCP, springers, for backyard fun, competition, hunting, pest control?

I picked up an Airforce Talon SS .22 years back at SHOT, upgraded and got bit by the bug even more and picked up a .25 Daystate Air Wolf Tactical MCT, and Crossman 2240. Quiet, backyard target shooting. The accuracy of the Air Wolf puts many target .22 rimfire rifles to shame, single hole groups at 50 yards.

They're all putzes. You're a cyclist, damn it. Sharpened spokes and a custom carbon fiber slingshot and your squirrels are dead meat.

Lol, they're perfect and extremely effective for that task as well.... Let's just say we used to have a problem with squirrels chewing holes in our house on a regular basis.

Used to be into airguns but sold most of them off years ago. I still have a BSA Lightning XL in .22, a custom CR2240 along with a couple vintage bulk fill co2 crosmans from the 50's.

Alright, you asked for it. I have a mix of PCPs (match and sporters), SSP's (match) and springers (match and sporters). If you are interested in air rifles, check out the "yellow forum." Air gun enthusiasts are constantly buying, selling and trading, like watch collectors, so there is a very healthy market of used guns in very good condition.

BTW, for those interested in PCPs, Crosman has hit a home run with it's Marauder line of rifles and pistols, and a very competitive price point. The Marauders don't have the fine fit and finish of the much more expensive European rifles. They shoot well out of the box and with a little simple tuning, will shoot with most of the Euro rifles of the same class.

Here a some of mine:

RFC,

My wallet is all too familiar with YF, so I've been trying to stay away ;).

Nice collection you have there with some serious match rifles, and it's always nice to have a few "backyard friendly" rifles and/or pistols available.

Excellent link! I envy the coach's position at the firing line. ;>)

Are those roller skis something that mere mortals can learn? Looks like fun.
