In October 2012, Kachusha "Chuey" Munkanta was involved in a brutal police altercation (http://uptownalmanac.com/2012/10/beloved-cyclist-chuey-munkanita-beat-unconscious-and-arrested-police). He now faces substantial legal costs with his upcoming trial.

I helped to organized an online fundraising campaign last year to help offset his medical and legal expenses. Chuey could use more assistance as his trial date approaches (which may begin as early as November) and he's currently in the process of choosing his legal representation.

Any money you can donate (http://www.youcaring.com/other/chuey-s-legal-fund/95490) would be greatly appreciated; he's truly a great individual, cyclist, cap maker (http://www.chueybrand.com/) and beer brewer.

$150,000 bail for this guy, and that ditz who drove over 4 and killed 2 cyclists at the Seacoast Century in NH earlier this month had $50,000? Amazing.

Despicable human behavior on both sides of the law just doesn't make sense.
It's hard to believe this goes on in Ca. after the Rodney King incident and this situation sounds even worse. Too bad it wasn't caught on tape...

If the judges don't tag along with justice a lot of abuse might be give by cops.

Evethought looks like this happened last year it really sucks, hope he is better now.

Health-wise, he's doing all right. But mentally and financially, he could be better. But he tries to stay positive and even with everything going on, is still helping to make caps for the charity bike race I organize every year. He's a real mensch.
