creed was nursing a back injury. the spacers were to deal with that .. and are since gone (i've seen him out spinnin around). as for the track bike.. what's your point? look at the size of the head tube..

BT frames as a standard matter need to be fitted with a longish, +20 to +35 degree mountain stem. That's just the way they're designed. Even the big ones have that same short head tube. This rider used a close-to-zero-rise stem, and has a couple inches of spacers as a result. Many people riding BT's either ride an upward-tilted alloy stem like a Salsa Moto-Ace or have a custom steel stem made.

I don't have to have a point to hang out here. it appears the stem is clamped on to the steerer tube which is 6-7 inches above the top of the head tube. Not something you see every day, even on those bikes.

it's actually not unusual at the track.. depending on the event.

Yeah, I've never seen one of these at Alpenrose. Separately, Australia sure has some nice looking tracks with very large and enthusiastic crowds. Good on em.

really weird. but that allows one to use the same bike for pursuit and kilo too....you can't stack the stem down were the head-tube higher...nonetheless, good thing the thing has a steel steerer tube.

if he used that bike for the pursuit, the steerer tube would go up his nose. I know, he'd use a different fork. all the other BTs I've seen look like the one next to it.

totally tangential-
have you ever built a mtb? i was thinking about this today while talking about the sachs translation of the Nichomachean ethics. i should be thinking about one off mtbs while discussion is centered on ethics, right?
