I'm wondering if yellow or orange will brighten up some of the rainy days or if I should just think about clear lenses or leaving the eyewear at home.

Yellow for any low light conditions.

You really notice the difference when you take them off and it seems much darker to the naked eye.

Yellow works very well for picking up details in flat light.

The other color that is surprisingly good, if you have Rudy Projects, is the "Racing Red".

You could also use clear.

Most glasses some with dark(bright sun), yellow(rain) and orange (Light clouds). I use the Smith glasses that come with those, but have also ordered the clear(don't use it much) and the the green and have found that it covers 80% of my riding because it's not as dark as the brown.

Yellow is great for flat light conditions. I use the yellow lenses in my Performance shades when skiing, riding or running. It's crazy when you take them off and realize how dark/flat the light actually is!

I never really use the clear lenses. If it's bright, I use the dark tint. If not- yellow.

Ditto yellow. I just came back from a weekend hunting quail, pheasant, etc...and yellow tinted lenses really helped me see contrasts in low light conditions.

I have not yet tried hunting quail or pheasant on a bike.

Where do you carry the gun? On the pump peg? Do you use C02?

I would love to see some pictures.

I use the Rudy's "Racing Red" lens also. It works well for me cause I can wear them in both normal and low light conditions.

I like the Rudy "racing red" also....

Yellow works well for flat-light, not low-light. For before sunrise riding, use clear lenses......

Me too and it works OK for rainy days or rain/sun mixture. But when it's dreary rainy nothing better than yellow. Just hope the sun doesn't come out because it'll blind you with those yellow lenses.

Oh, crap! really? Cory Hart never made it big time in the USA?

You couldn't find a Canadian alive in '83 who wouldn't know that song.
I think they were going to change the National Anthem to it...
or wait, maybe it was the BlueJays theme?
(boys of summer reference....)

Ditto.

I was going to mention that if there is any chance the sun is going to come out during the ride, carry another pair of glasses or lenses because it's blinding when the sun comes out and you're wearing yellow lenses.

William

I used yellow a lot in the Oregon early season.

Yellow is great for rainy/early morning and such.

But I'll second Bruce K's vote for the Rudy Racing Reds - they work very well in a wide variety of conditions and are the lenses that are in my Rudy's most of the time. They're good in all but the brightest sun, and are especially valuable because you can still see in the shaded portions of your ride if your riding takes in and out of the trees (or tall buildings for you Manhattanites :) ). (Oakley's 'persimmon' is similar but not as good in the sun.) just my 2 cents.

ride on!
