What does that new machine do?

This is not a 'best suggestion wins a prize' question. The facts, just the facts.

Looks expensive.

the machine in the picture that the new engineer is standing beside is a Haas turning center (CNC Lathe). used to make mostly round type parts.
the other picture looks like the 4-axis indexable fixture inside their new Haas Machining center (CNC Mill).
really nice equipment for their operation. these two pieces of equipment will allow them to make their own fittings (dropouts, cable guides, and such. it also opens the door to making their own custom lugs or lug molds (full custom carbon frame???).
Serotta has taken a huge step with this purchase. i think it was a very good move.

This machine was also used to punish RPI students
who handed in tardy assigments.

It is the refined version of the Tute Screw.

Haas SL 20, used, $57,000.

A serious investment. Now i see where the money goes.

Ahneida,

It would have to be capable of making it a double helix, that's how the Tute Screw was in my day at RPI.
