View Full Version : Shimano Pro Genuine leather handlebar tape???

Has anyone ever used this stuff before?
I know Brooks, which I've used, and Cinelli makes it, but I had no clue that Shimano makes it. I was searching ebay and ran into this:

Anyone have any reviews of it? Any Input would be great. :confused:

A few years ago Chainlove was blowing it out. I tried it. Don't really like it.

Felt kind've cheap and didn't pull as nice as Fizik's pho-leather. (Yes I know pho is actually pronounced fuh).

Little more kushy than Fizik though.

Would you say it's less tacky than Fizik's?

The only tape I've found to be tacky is Lizard Skins new stuff and Specialized's version of that same stuff.


Fizik's felt feeling and leather feeling tape is not tacky to me. Yeah, I don't ride with gloves so what do I know.

Lizard Skin is pricey but, the feel is virtually without peer. Just great bar tape. I never really liked leather as it doesn't have that consistent tacky feel wet and dry like LS. I will have to try the Specialized version. Didn't know they made one like it.
