The seatpost on my bike will not stay put unless it has zero lube on it. I've tried several seatpost clamps but it still slips. I think it's the shiny finish on the post. If I completely wipe off the lube, it will generally stay put put.

So should I ride it without lube or should I scuff up the top coat to give it a bit of grab?

I'm assuming that this is a carbon post? If so, have you tried carbon assembly paste?

Like this. (http://www.aebike.com/Tacx-5gm-Carbon-Assembly-Paste-single-serving_p_19772.html)

Good luck,

Chris

I'd still try the carbon paste, it should give a little more bite on an Al post too.

You could always knurl it!

+1 on the carbon paste

Then torque the collar to the correct value (mine are 6 N-M)

have this same post... No issues with slipping when torqued to correct value in my carbon Focus Cayo, and I'm of hefty size/proportions. I think I've got carbon paste on it, Finish Line probably. It's been a year or more since I've pulled it

Find a machine shop with a lathe. Apply money.

A good shop with have a Stein knurling tool. It's a simple thing that wraps around the post (or crown crown race) and in placed in a vice. It is gently clamped and then rotated by hand and the tool puts a knurled surface on the post.

Cool an simple. Call your local pro shop and ask if they have a Stein knurling tool, mark the post in some way so that you know where it should be treated, and lets the tech do his thing. It takes 5 minutes at best and that includes the time it takes for the guy to put the 6 pack you brought him in the fridge.

I hope that helps.

What frame? Measure sp dia and st inner dia with calipers. Measure twice and report back.

I have this sp installed on my Klein. Not issue's.
