Do they not realise that's pretty much their only option, except for folding up completely?

Alonso's been giving too many free rides recently, can't afford to carry anyone else.

According to AS.com, the Movistar company has been trying to hamper the transfer of the team to Alonso. It has not elaborated on what has been done to cause the problems, but has said that the reason is that the existence of another team in Spain would boost the price of riders and that some sponsors might prefer to be associated with Alonso.

From the articles that I have read it sounds as though it fell apart over Alonso not wanting to be bound to inherit the entire staff and their contracts.

It appears to be cutting off one's nose to spite one's face if this is true.

Without his deal going through, the entire staff and all of the riders and senior people he wanted to keep will be on the street.

Another team lost and Alonso cannot even form a new team by 2014 due to the filing deadlines.

Sounds like the Union Leaders in Detroit took up negotiations for Euskatel......sickening.
