I turn 40 later this year.

I have some fitness/ riding goals for next year....that frankly are going to take some real work/dedication.

Shortly, I will be "locking myself in the basement" to start making inroads.

Give me your 2 "go to" workout/trainer songs. My list now contains songs from Scorpions, Metallica, AC/DC, Sponge, STP, Soundgarden...some techno stuff.

Whatchya got?....links to youtube preferred!

on a related note, i used to load up my "go" playlist with harder, more intense tracks. mostly rage against the machine, muse, cypress hill, some hip hop, blah blah blah.... the usual stuff.
but what i've learned since is that "strutting" music is more effective for working out (for me), especially something like cycling or running that requires a sustained effort. pretty much anything that gets my foot tapping and body wanting to move and be active. given that criteria, it's surprising what tracks pop up. they tend to be upbeat and cheerier in tone which also helps me keep up a good effort.

the harder stuff still works but it's tough for me to maintain that intensity.

My goals for 2013 are all shot. I'm looking to make 2014 goals that are really going to push myself, especially over the winter.

Anything by White Stripes

Metallica-- Enter Sandman (the live Moscow version is the bomb)

Nine Inch Nails-- Woodstock 1994 concert (MP3 it off of Youtube)

The list goes on, but these work for me. I did, however, almost die once listening to Enter Sandman while doing a pretty fast mtb descent-- got me amped enough that my speed exceeded my handling skills. I no longer listen to Metallica whilst traveling downhill on a mountain bike. Works great uphill, though...

Apparently, my workout songs differ from the masses. Decidedly trance and house.

I save the rock and metal for my driving mix playlist.

Here are some of my favorites in my workout playlist:

My goals for 2013 are all shot. I'm looking to make 2014 goals that are really going to push myself, especially over the winter.

^ That was me in Feb 2013.

Music. I really need a good cadence/beat else it seems like the song is in slow motion. 90 bpm or faster. I think some songs I play are in the 120 bpm range.

Commercial stuff:
Rancid (the whole album that has... "Ruby Soho"
Zebrahead (Waste of Mind, Playmate of the Year, albums)
Others but that'll get you started.

There are misc songs too, meaning a song here and there.

I like my brothers' bands' songs. I put them in my clips on YouTube, selecting the good cadence/rhythm ones. SprinterDellaCasa. I even made a couple clips of the songs, hope to make another one or two.
