If you eat those fries, drink the beer, and ride the roads, you will indeed become Vlaenderen die Leu. Or you will look like a house. It's the mayo, the mayo is worth a trip to the motherland.

My only regret in life is that I didn't marry that Belgian girl in my 20s and retire to the Ardennes to run a small bike shop. Now look at me...geez.

Actually, make sure you end up on St.Catherine street.
the reason should be obvious.

make no mistake.. french fries must be cooked in an iron skillet for uniform heat and best results.

Thank goodness my wife doesn't read this Forum. But she had black hair and green eyes and porcelain skin, well, you all know the rest. Of course, zank's right, it doesn't matter but it's sure fun to have this as an only regret, doncha'think?

Better go make some fries...

I'll be in Brussels on 1/16, 1/17, and 1/18. Where should I go for horse lard pommes, moules, and beer?

And don't you dare say "Monk's" in Philly.

Thanks in advance,
- Christian

Great post! Pommes Frites in the East Village is about a 5-minute ride from my apartment. I'll be there Saturday night. I also live 200 meters from Petite Abielle, which serves 40 Belgian beers.

The Jerk speaks truth.

One must also smother them with mayonaise - not vinegar based mayo (US type) but with lemon based mayo.

Yummm
