A 13-year-old was hit by a car yesterday in my town of Hopkinton MA.
This hits hard.
Plus, my wife had the misfortune of being on her bike ride and coming upon the scene very soon after it happened (I'm purposefully refraining from using the word "accident"). She called me and was a mess, seeing EMT's administer CPR.

No details at all.

Be careful out there,
Murph

Isn't this near the schools? think this road has a shoulder.

Phone/text - don't worry Verizon and ATT will ensure more will be killed.
(yes my extreme position on cell phones)

Ah man, our kids were out riding their bikes yesterday and stuff like this is always floating around in the back of my head when they do. I feel really bad for the child and his/her parents.

South of the schools about a mile or so, near Granite St. The road varies, but not much of a shoulder in this section.

Various stories coming out. Some say he was riding, some say he was crossing.

I live in the next town over and often ride near where it happened. Been down all morning. Condolences and peace to family, friends and community.

hold up, can 16-year-olds drive in MA?

I got my license exactly 6 months after my 16th birthday (I think)...

I thought 16 was the norm, with some states on either side?

This sucks... The worst phone call a parent could get.

Edit: Which apparently has even less info than the article posted above.

Massachusetts juvenile driving restrictions (http://www.dmv.org/ma-massachusetts/teen-drivers.php) are unusually lenient. I can't say whether stronger teen driving restrictions would have prevented the accident, but many other states think so, including Connecticut (http://www.ct.gov/teendriving/cwp/view.asp?Q=413528&A=3369).

What a senseless tragedy.

Like so many in Massachusetts. (http://www.wcvb.com/news/local/metro-west/Family-sues-after-no-criminal-charges-to-be-filed-in-fatal-Wellesley-crash/-/11983044/18399808/-/127p7elz/-/index.html)
