my current needs in a multi tool have changed. i usually carry a pretty minimalist lezyne tool, but i'm on the hunt for a tool for longer solo rides where i might need some back-up. here are the MUST haves. i want the best tool out there with the following features. light weight, sleek engineering design and sturdy operation are a plus.

-4,5,6 hex keys
-chain tool
-phillips screwdriver
-spoke wrench

everyone likes these threads right, what should i buy?

interesting that you mention that, i've had pretty bad luck with CB tools. i had one of their smaller multi tools, and i swear that thing was actually a rust magnet. mine looked like hell after a year or so in my fixie saddle bag. the one you posted does have all the requisite tools though.

I'm waiting for the Park Tool MTB-3.2 which is "coming soon".

im anti-multitool

I just carry small allen wrenches held together with a rubber band, a spare master link, spoke wrench, a mini screw driver, and a small patch kit...all held in a tiny little pouch. lighter than a typical multi tool, but yet fully functional and easier to use set of tools.

Check the sellers recent feed back... Might want to go the Amazon route instead...

Yikes, good catch...didn't even look at that.
Yeah, Amazon might be a better choice

Sorry to bring this back up...but did you ever find one AngryScientist? I am on the lookout for about the same thing...needs to be small enough to fit in small/mini saddlebag...but hard to find one with spoke wrenches.

RKP gushes over this Lezyne SV10...I was about to pull the trigger but no spoke wrench:

I saw this and really like what came. Made in upstate NY. You get short pieces of whatever working tool you want to carry, and the ratchet which fits it. Light, and clever, seems very well made. Not expensive. Not everything, but cool!

I've had a set of these for a while now and really like them. http://www.fixitsticks.com/
Mine are a very early version. The latest have more options. These, a chain tool (and quick links), and spoke wrench are pretty much all that I need for long rides (he says with fingers crossed). Everything fits in the recycled inner tube that comes with the fix it sticks.

Lezyne CRV-12 or Topeak Hexus II. I ended up with the Hexus II because it was cheaper =)

+1 on the Hexus, if you need a tool with "everything".

a previous commenter wrote that his rusted out kinda quickly, and while mine has to some extent, it wasn't to the point of being a problem, and it took a while for it to happen. I really like my m-17, it's tidy, real sharp looking, and i've not had a situation on a ride that I can't solve with it.

I like the Hexus, but the spoke wrench part of it is lacking. I broke a spoke a while back, and could barely adjust the others with the hexus at all.

I do really like the spoke wrench on the crank brothers tool I have.

Well...I think I am going to get this one. Has everything I need with added CO2 inflater. Anyone have one.

I have a topeak alien, which is overkill, really. It's also sort of large. That said, I've never had a problem with it in >10 years. The chain tool on this is very good, too.

I also bought a Park multitool with a lot of stuff on it a few years ago. One of the allen keys (the one for the chain tool) stripped on the first use.

I'm also on the lookout for a smaller, reliable multitool.

i know it's in canada, but it's super cheap, totally reliable, and i actually prefer its spoke wrench when building or truing wheels because it has a deeper grip on the nipple face than my other spoke wrenches. no CO2 inflator, but everything else, and it's gotten me out of plenty of bad times, including broke spokes and busted chains and all of that. it does get rusty if left unused in a soaking wet saddle pack, but is otherwise rock on. give'r.
