probably. I know little about wheel building (although i have read Jobst Brandt), but that equipment looks nicer than some i've seen in bike shops. how some of them true wheels with the relics they use is beyond me.

I just added up the retail cost of some ck mtb wheels. When did ck hubs start running 600+ a set? The big advantage would be wheels in stock, I'd pay a Grand to have some of those by the end of the week. Colorado cyclist has really been the best for me, both build quality (which has been the best I've experienced) and ease of order with about two weeks to my door. Edit I just read the fine print- sent to your lbs in two weeks - so I'm in since I get a bit of a discount. I notice they are not offering crest as an option, which kind of answers a question I've had about the durability of those, I was already leaning to the new arch ex.

How much will a set of HED Belgium 23mm with CK hubs cost from a local builder? $1000 seems like it's in the ballpark.

prices are stupid. call Ergott

"I built your wheelset, you get out and ride." terrific sentence

I'd certainly prefer Ergott or echalonjohn to build my wheels, but if you wanted either to build these wheels (CK R45 hubs @ $~575, HED Belgium rims @ $100 per rim, call it $100 for spokes, tape, and skewers, total $875 for materials @ MSRP, CK asking $1,000 leaves $125 for builder, and I assume CK is shipping them to your local shop for that price) their pricing is going to be in the same ballpark.

For the same $, I'd sooner go with Ergott or someone local.

And I'm itching for a new set of wheels with CK hubs lately.
