Sooo.... I've had plenty of things posted for sale on the Paceline site over the years.

Why is it that certain people ask you to send pictures and tell you how much they are interested we email back and forth several times and then nothing??

MAN! that gets to me. I guess for me if I'm not interested then I'm not going to waste someone time emailing them back and forth asking for pics and whatnot just for nothing.

Thanks I feel better... it's 8:45am 60 degrees here in Denver and I'm heading out to race my CX bike.

Welcome to retail.....:)
Customer comes in. Takes 3 hours of the salesmans time road testing bikes. Decides he can't afford it or buys somewhere else.

Or customer come in, tries shoes, helmets, clothing, etc and then mail orders it to save a buck.

As biker72 said, the price of doing business. Some folks are tire-kickers and will always be that way.

I sometimes hang out at my LBS where the manager is in constant gripe mode about what his customers are doing. I've been known to listen patiently for a minute, hour or whatever, pause, and ask, "And the reason you're in retail is what?"

Yeah. I agree.

Recently I offered some nos Campy Red shifters here at a bargain price. I got 4-5 offers at $325. I thought my price was already a very good deal and held firm. When nobody stepped up I put them on eBay and they sold for $610. I'm not complaining.

Anytime you do something that involves interaction with other people you will come across the good, the bad, and the ugly. Goes with the territory.

The only job I've ever had where the people were always glad to see me was when I delivered flowers for a florist when I was in college. Bouquets of flowers always make people smile.:)

This is a very small pool of buyers and if your prices don't come down, things are going to sit unsold. I would try elsewhere like ebay or CL.

Not trying to personally attack you but I remember you offering the same frames you're selling now to me when I built up a carbon bike almost two years ago.

I've had like 6 main road bikes since then

How about when people make offers, the price is agreed and then it turns out they were really just looking around?

I won't waste a sellers time unless I am really interested. That's just me. As the seller you have to understand there are all kinds of buyers.
Deal isn't done until Paypal hits.

I've always considered this forum as a place for incredibly good deals. So good that the items were sold before I could respond.....:D

Want the big bucks??? Go to eBay.

Just chalk it up to forum experience and remember those "buyers." I've had a handful of folks do the same thing to me over the years and I just don't waste my time with them anymore.

This has nothing to do with things as far as price... I sell things for a pretty far price (cheaper than one could get on eBay) so that wasn't what I was talking about. Hell even ask the people I have sold things to.

I guess I'm the type of person that if I'm going to buy something then I don't contact someone. If I'm not in the position to buy them I don't respond.

 Well ....since I have only been on this Fourm for a little over two years and I have only posted/sold a Roubaix Pro framest and I posted in 8/12 my brother-in-laws S-Works Roubaix frameset you might want to get your fax straight. So where you are coming up with "frames you're selling now" I don't know.

I have just recently responded to a few posts offering two frames that are BRAND NEW and they are current 2013 models soooo...

Let's not forget those equally annoying sellers here who commit to selling an item, agree on payment and shipping terms, sometimes even accept a PayPal payment, only to flake out.

I've gotten excuses like:
"another buyer wants your item as part of a package deal", or
"sorry, I oversold that item, or
"doing a local deal with a buddy".

I find this kind of seller behavior far more disconcerting than a tire kicking lookie loo buyer.

HUman beings can be a pain in the butt; on balance, the folks on this site are well above average in decency and follow thorough

I can't vouch for what it's like in this forum but have you ever tried to sell (or sale as most CL people put it) something on craigslist? Once you weed out the scams people may offer you 1/3 of your asking price or they just never respond after saying they're interested.

That's exactly why I like Star Trek conventions.
