I have some vintage Campy 32 hole hubs.....spokes, nipples from a set of trashed tubular rims. What's the best idea for my old SOMEC?

Full Campy 8 speed.....the current wheels are some cruddy low end Shimano that my brother had on them.....they are a bear to get stopped as compared to my Bontrager wheels on my CF LeMond.

I love the old steel frame for the flats with the close ratio gears.

Because of the 20 post 30 day limit I can't even advertise these for sale.

Located in Orange County CA.

And yet, you have.

PS. build 'em up and ride 'em. I bet vintage campy will have better returns than the stock market next year.

Being a 15 year vet and an admin of other forums, you learn things. :)

Kinda restrictive newbies but not my site not my rules.

Just looking to get this old wall hanger back to it's former glory. The wheels are the last thing to fix. The shifters and rear derailleur were DA.

I haven't built a wheel in 25 years. Any recommendations for a builder in So California?

You know some p-cars will let you carry the bike inside:

You obviously appreciate mechanical things, why not build them up yourself?

Even if they don't turn out to be the best possible wheels with the given parts, you will surely learn something in the process.

Porsches and Campy, good partners! Good old campy hubs should be built up and ride them!

I had several 944's and could put 2 bikes in the back. They were great driving cars. Today, with the current crop of engines, a 944 would be a super car.

You are a few inches off, it is a 924S. Long term plan involves more displacement.

Both! I have always had a 911 but not Porsche will fit a 61cm+ bike inside.

The 924, 931, 944, 951, and 968 will all fit a 61cm+ with the front wheel off.

Yep, I retired and I'm taking care of my Momz in Villa Park/Orange. Also going to school. Riding more.....doing vintage graphics and being a nuisance to my children.....

I put the bike up on top as they can be locked.....they don't fit inside with the roll cage. I can carry three bikes bolted to the roll bar.

Yakima truck bed racks. Also give me an excuse to put the top down......

But the engine is in the wrong place...

But the engine is in the wrong place...

It's funny that Porsche made two cars with rear engines and now "enthusiasts" claim that it's the only place it can be despite the very long list of fantastic front and mid engine cars that have come out of their engineering room.

Now we have people saying a Porsche shouldn't have a hybrid drivetrain despite the fact that Firdinand gave the world it's first hybrid all the way back in 1898.
