Is anyone still making ceramic 700 rims? Mavic doesn't seem to be offering.

I have a pair of Mavic Open Pro Ceramics in 32 hole if anyone is looking for....(1) is the CD/ceramic finish, (1) is the Black anno/ceramic finish. PM if anyone could use one, or both.

This is the known flaking problem with Mavic ceramic rims (see photo below). Some batches worked out fine when used, and some did not. I have a Mavic ceramic rim built as a front wheel that has remained perfect for many years and gives excellent braking in the wet. This is the 'batch' type i'm after.

is there any recourse to when the braking surface starts to chip like that? can you even re-surface something like that?

isn't that an ebay picture?
looks more like those rims have been thrown around and chipped ("shop wear") than a bad batch/flaking.
Some of the newer ceramics (black with the lighter ceramic coating) had an issue with the coating a few years back

I agree. Ive had 3 rims from one of the bad batches of recent editions. They dont look like the pic at all. Look more like paint peeling of.

Got a friend who has a set of nos newer edition that im thinking bout but its abit of cointoss with these really

If they were, I'd be first in line for a set.

Have the more recent gen OP Ceramics, no issues.

Ceramics are my favourite rims. I have some that date back to 1990 and still look new. The sidewalls never wear, so keep looking good forever.

Side question: did the tubulars ever come in 28 hole drilling?

From what I've heard, not since 2011. They do come up on pukebay every once in a while, though.
