I have an older pair of Diadora shoes I stopped wearing because they won't hold the cleats tightly over time. Love the fit, though. Don't really like the Sidi shoes I replaced them with. Before trying another shoe, can I have the older shoes fixed?

You can do it yourself. Cut thru the board sole inside the shoe and replace the studs inside. A shop will have some floating around depending on what type. I've done it before. Pretty smile. Just don't cut yourself.

So that floating plate inside is a universal type, and can just be replaced?

Yes usually. Some shoes don't have a floating plate. Some do. Some are individual studs with 10mm or so hex flats that stop them from turning in the sole of the shoe. I will look and see if I have plate. But you can cut them out and replace them.

What happened to yours? Did you try tapping it?

No, really haven't tried anything. I put some shims under the cleat to tighten things up, but, that wore out eventually.

Yeah, but, cleats wear out. Gotta replace them.

Get a 5mm tap and run that thru. Then see what's up. Could just be crap in there. You could use some blue locktite without issues.
