The clear coat is scraped off from transporting. Should I take it to a body shop?
Thanks

Try polishing compound on a small area and see if that will bring the gloss back. Others here, Ultraman!, know more.

If it's more abraded than chipped you can try lightly wet sanding w/ progressively finer grades of paper--400>600>800>1000>1200>1500>2000 followed by progressive stages of polish--mild rubbing compound, polishing compound, wax. Should restore it pretty well. If deeper, try first touching up with clear coat from your local auto parts store, or clear nail polish, then when dry follow with the above sanding/polishing regimen. wipe it down with rubbing alcohol to clean it before you apply any clear. Should end up passably invisible. Failing that, then consider a professional if it really bugs you.

Good luck.

i'd see if 1600 grit wet-sanding doesn't bring the polish back...

How about something like this? http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch_up_paint_clearcoat.aspx

Peter -- Any specific recommendations (brands) for the rubbing and polishing compounds? Also, do you know if there are any sets of the sand paper?

If you are in DC metro I can fix you that.

From the picture you need to put polyurethane clear coat over it. It can be done with a small brush and letting drops of paint to fall over, then repeat till all the thing is cover up, you can use a toothpick too. Once is covered wait a couple of days (you will be able to ride next day w/o any problems tho) to sand it and polish it, the reason to wait a couple of days is because I'm talking about clear w/o activator so it will take longer to cure.

Do not use any paint polisher over that because basically the clear just cracked in there, so you have carbon exposed ok? It needs to be cleared.

You can use nail clear but the problem with it is that it might turn yellow after a few months under the sun, women paint their nails really often so the level of U/V protection wont be even close to car polyurethane.

Last thing, don't get scared the bike won't explode ok? Just take your time to find the clear you need.

Worse case scenario I can send you a tiny bottle of polyurethane clear if you need.

Good luck.

It won't bring crap back, contrary it will get the clear close to the chip flat as hell (no shiny at all), the easiest and quickest way to fix that is what I said before... just drops of polyurethane clear coat until all is covered then you can sand and polish but if the clear is good wont be necessary because those ones will even really good.
