Looking at getting a powermeter. Do I need it? Prob not but I like to play around with it. Since powertap cut their prices down by 40%, there are some deals out there right now. Excel sports has this build for $879

Competitive cyclist has almost the same version but with the even wider rim (25mm). This one has 32 spokes count instead of 28. I prefer to have 28 at my weight. This one is $892 but there is a $50 coupon that can be used with this.

Which one would you get?

Used Quarqs are ~$900 or less...

I thought about a quarq but currently running all shimano stuff. I know sram probably would work but I love my current Dura Ace crankset right now. That's why I've narrowed down to powertap vs stage.

Can you use a 10 speed quarq with an 11 speed shimano setup? I have a 28T powertap that I really like but I'm thinking of switching to a quarq sometime soon so I can use my fancy carbon wheels when I want to. I want to have the ability to be able to run a 11 speed ultegra at some point.

I'm using a Quarq with Shimano 10sp rings, everything else is Campy 11.

Would love a Campy SRM, but the price is a bit outrageous...

Opportunity cost: what other bike stuff could I have instead, for that money. That's the question I'd ask myself.

I've been using a powertap for a while (maybe 4-5 months) and if forced to I'd rather ride my $400 craigslist caad 5 with 9 speed 105 with a powertap for a month than my Di2 carbon BMC with carbon wheels with no power meter, if it means anything to the OP.

I've talked to other people that consider their power meter a "fancy speedometer" and even though they have them, don't pay much attention to the info, though.

Yeah but what about shimano? I looked it up and I guess the spacing is slightly different on the 11 speed shimano cranksets but people are saying they work fine.
