I finally tackled Mt. Umunhum yesterday (http://www.plattyjo.com/mt-umunhums-done-and-done/), here's the rest of my bucket list (http://goo.gl/g8qbJT). Lots left to do in the South Bay/Peninsula/Monterey Bay!

Remarkable list. Is there a corresponding list for the North Bay?

I have ridden a number of these as a way to get from point A to point B. Never occurred to me that some of these would be climbs listed on a spread sheet.

I've done a majority of the steeper ones and I want to say Alba from what I can remember of it, was the toughest in my opinion, it levels out at the mid point once you hit the school. It's probably been 12 years since I've ridden it though...

wow...awesome work. Just a suggestion, perhaps you might want to add a lat/lon location column to your spreadsheet? Then you can easily find directions to the climb from google maps rather than relying on a text description. I have a web tool to find this easily:

http://maptacks.net/tools/latlonfinder.html

or

on google maps, right click the spot, and select "what's here"...

as noted on the top of the spreadsheet, it from a local bike club; Almaden Cycle Touring Club. (http://www.actc.org/routes/bg/index.php#local?region=all) they have a links to a maps.

While I've done many of the climbs, I usually do them as part of a bigger ride and not just the few miles listed as part of the climb.

I would say the big three in the bay area are: Hamilton, Diablo and Tam. Hamilton is the longest climb at 20 miles, but it's the least steep...but at the end of 20 miles, any rise is too steep! The most technical is Tam, the lower roads are heavily used by cars (the best route is through mill valley and oak park) and the switchbacks are tight and off camber.

ride safe.

I did about half of the list, but I am in East Bay and your list has only climbs from Low Key series from EB.

Yeah, it seems better to lump a few together instead of doing them piecemeal since many of them are rather short. I haven't seen a North Bay list, but here's a list of climbs in the Bay Area from the Yellow Jackets. (http://www.oaklandyellowjackets.org/rides/bay-area-climbs) And the East Bay has the infamous Nifty Ten Fifty. (http://www.niftytenfifty.com/2010/03/nifty-ten-fifty-ride-description.html)

That is a good way to term that "tackled"- I rode up Mt Umunhum in the early 90s and thought I would die- NOW I probably would! Go You!! Thats awesome!

Thanks!

you can go a bit further...

We would have loved to have gone up further, but we passed a ranger on our way up so we turned around as soon as we saw that stop sign.

A bunch, most of the ones in Santa Cruz, but I don't really seek out different climbs much. Mt. Charlie rd is down the street from me. I find I like doing the same ones over and over and never really get that excited to do a new climb.

Do Eureka Canyon pretty much every week (sometimes twice a week).

I really don't like Jamison creek or anything that's too steep to not be able to spin at least 80+ rpm for most of the climb. I just can't get a rhythm on those ones even with a 34x32 gear.
