Does anyone here have any experience with the relatively new Campeur? I'd love to hear some unbiased opinions from intelligent folks on the stengths and weaknesses of these bikes.

I am about to pull the trigger but the geometry looks a little strange to me. I'm straight up 54 tt/st, but it comes in 53 and 55. Not a huge deal.

The tester for Adventure Cyclist magazine chose to buy the demo bike instead of sending it back to VO. That's a pretty solid endorsement. I don't know how much love VO gets around here, but I have a lot of their products and all are really nice. I really like this Campeur bike, if I were in the market for sure a bike, it's tough to beat, especially at the price they are asking for it!

Yeah they are nice.

Didn't phcollard post something a while back on a newer lighter tourer bike?

Found it:

Might be worth the wait?

That's not intended to be a tourer and they say as much. Different clearances and geometry than the Campeur.

I am wondering if a 53 or a 55 would take 45s. I know they advertise 38 clearance but one rider with a wonderful blog said he fit 45s no problem onto his. but his was a 59 or 61 I think can't remember. it looks like a great, relatively snappy, go everywhere except hard rocky places bike.

You're thinking of this blog:

yep. I have an email out to them re: sizing. I am looking for a fast commuter that can morph into a long distance bike with lots of clearance. that blog is inspiring.

Did you ever end up biting on the Campeur? I know this is an ancient post. I purchased one in 51cm but haven't built it yet (now thinking maybe I should have gone with a 53 ).
