Curious if anyone is following this closely. I heard the guy interviewed last night and it sounded interesting.

With the name Soylent, I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is a hoax.

To Serve Man

Ask Nando Parrado - he can tell you all about it.

Or you can ask Monty Python (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sljSf7KVlQ)

I think it's legitimate as Vice did an interview with the creator:

Well actually, it is Vice magazine, so who knows.

I've been directed to their page more than a few times in the past month or so, and for a page dealing with a nutritional product a cursory glance at their page reveals nada - no formula, no basic ingredients, talk about nutritional equivalency of water i.e. ≈0 cals, talk about Bitcoins, etc. So yeah, I'm eager for someone to parse some info from all the BS in their site and give it to me as well (since I have no patience to do the sewer wading myself)...notwithstanding which I'm going to call it just another golden goose proposition.

Vanilla Slimfast

I guess no one realizes the more calories you drink, the fatter you get.

Wow, you're pretty lazy, I found the ingredient list within a minute.

Soylent looks like vegan slimfast. People who need to lose weight generally like flavors like Chocolate, Cookies n Cream, Doritos n Cheetos, Twinkies. I'm going to wait till version 2.0 when the catchy flavours come out.

They might as well put some metamucil in there with the creatine. Then it can truly be a one stop shop.

Maybe I'm lazy too because I do not see the ingredient (nutrition) list. Do you mind posting the link?

Within 5 minutes of reading my high school organic chemistry book many years ago it was immediately clear that the body is designed to process food and make the nutrients that we need. No chemical process will fully duplicate it. When a person takes over the counter vitamins, some of them destroyed before they ever end up where they are needed.

In the end a balanced diet will always prevail as the best course for nutrition. The rest is mostly junk science. Read the book "Do you believe in Magic".

"Ingredient" list found here:

Although not really an ingredient list, more of of nutrient list. Probably not FDA approved or validated.

Sounds like something I could mix up in a Vitamix :)

Looking at this further, this isn't really a new idea...my understanding is that a gastric bypass patients are prescribed a similar, liquid diet post surgery and there are powder formulations readily availbale on the market

Really, as long as you accessorize a little, you can eat whatever you want. Bandana ascots never go out of style:
