White hoods with white tape?

So I've got white fizik gloss bar tape and I need to replace my black hoods, the right one has a wicked tear in it. So I'm wanting white hoods. Am I asking to become a glutton for punishment as in dirty hoods? The white sram replacement hoods cost 12 bucks more for some damn reason too at my LBS. which I find odd..

Regardless. What exp do you guys/gals have with white hoods? Should I have the Mr.Clean magic eraser ready....:banana:

I've got white Far&Near hoods from fairwheel. They have stayed clean for 3+ seasons, haven't faded. If they get grease or lube on them they clean up with soap & water. Go for it....white tape needs white hoods

I've got the same combo as you. Glossy fizik tape with white sram oem hoods. They do show some graying after a while but not a big deal cuz they clean up with almost everything I've tried. I've used windex, water, alcohol, simple green. Whatever was handy. Clean up is super easy. Go for it.

This is about as dirty as they get unless you touch a chain first.

I was planning on putting white hoods on black tape. The bike will have a white saddle as well. The frame is black carbon (Colnago PR00) with white logos. I have been trying to find some pictures of the setup on the interweb but seems pretty rare (white hoods on black tape). I hope it works....

White hoods are easy to clean. Warm water and dish washing soap. I've done it quite often. Another vote for white hoods/tape.

Absolutely! I'm a huge fan of white hoods; my favorite look is with white tape, saddle.

Really like the white spokes with the look here -- although the wheels were borrowed from a friend. Felt like a poseur with them, but boy, what a ride, particularly at speed! (Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic -- lens was smudged after the Tues night world championships....)

Count me in the minority. Prefer black or gum hoods with white tape. The white hoods, especially on modern shifters, just feel too matchy-matchy to me.

Which manufactuer makes that bar tape? I've used Fizik for years, tried the Lizard skin for a bit (got nasty dirty)....perhaps time for something else.

I too use mainly fizik (2 of 4 bikes). For parlee, believe it's lizard skin. It's quite dirty in the drops and by hoods but appears clean in this image.

After this thread, so am I. Especially when everything else on the bike is pretty dark (including the frame). I'm not sure how this would look when riding though, since the saddle isn't really that visible... might look odd to just have the white hoods showing.
