At 3:02, just after he gets going again, some guy just goes FLYING by and knocks him down again.

Insane - "Don't let go of your bike!"

A random thought: I hope they didn't allow spiked-tires - that would have been carnage.

I was wondering if it was something like a bunch of warm weather riders who were not allowed to use studded tires as they really did look a little too out of control.

There are conditions where the studded tires don't work, but groomed terrain like that if it is cold enough they usually work pretty well. I've never done an event like this but I've never been that out of control in the snow (done lots of snow riding). I guess from the video it does look like there is some evidence that was the wet loose snow that is very difficult to stay in control on.

The other thing that was suspicious was how far they were sliding when they fell.. it was almost like they had no ski/snowboard experience, as normally there is no reason to slide that far.. I doubt that was a "Double black diamond" trail or something where you would not be able to stop. The wet/loose snow that is hard to ride on is very easy to stop sliding on...

Given how insane it was they probably should have required the riders have leashes that attached them to their bikes.

Still looks like fun...

That is the most ridiculous bike video I've ever seen.

I'm squeamish about downhill video and crashes, but this one had me both thrilled and terrified :)

the split at 1:59 is a miracle.

Having ridden on the snow for years, all I can say is that, if you take yourself at all seriously, physics and the local coefficient of friction will crush you.

If someone had strapped themselves to skis in addition to being on their bike would that of been an advantage to stay upright or just asking for trouble?

Very awesome write up from Adam Craig when he did it. Sounds nuts.
