More on wheels....the last request honest!

I am getting a bit obsessed about this wheel thang now. I just went to my local shop to enquire about wheel building services and the answer is no vale la pena (which roughly translates as not worth the trouble). All are factory made, all either Mavic or some other make (never heard of 'em)...that said, the guy did say that the Mavics are good (he should know as his son won a stage of the Tour de France last year). Now, how easy is it to build my own wheels...are there any good websites I can use to help me do this? Or should I give up and just go for a beer.

Buy (amazon.com) Jobst's book "The Bicycle Wheel".
And read Sheldon Browns website.
If you screw up, you can always take it apart and start over again. Or you <burp> can take me up on my offer, send me the parts along with some booze, and I'll build'em.
