Friend has a 2010 carbon Colnago with a bent derailleur hanger. He says t15 is too big and t10 is too small. I can't find any male bits in between, but found t12 and t14 sockets (female), so screws must exist with male heads in those sizes. Could use the head of a screw in vice grips to turn the hanger screw, but can't locate male headed torx screws either. Suggestions?

There's no such thing as a T12 or T14.

Here's a trick that might get the T-10 to work. Start filing down the end or using a bench grinder, remove material from the tip. As you work your way toward the base of the Torx tool, the ribs flare out and may flare out enough to fit the bolt properly.

T10 is pretty small unless the hanger uses multiple Torx bolts. I'd also suggest trying other Torx head bits as there may be a T15 you can find that's slightly undersize that fits the bolt.

I suggested shortening a t10 to him. I haven't seen the bike since this issue cropped up, but also suggested that perhaps it's a t15 and the head is deformed enough that the bit won't engage.

Pretty sure I found t12 and t14 female sockets when I was searching for bits/L wrenches. Am I mistaken about that?

It could be a Torx-Plus T10. They are slightly different than standard torx heads.

Good luck
